Disney is our favorite place to get away. As South Floridians, we have spent much of our almost 8 year relationship's milestones at Disney in Orlando. Boy have things changed each year, even as annual pass holders, since at 19 and 22, we headed up there with tons of friends and not a care in the world. Two years later, Our engagement in the Magic Kingdom led us to starting an awesome life together, and two years after that, we headed up there after our wedding to get away for a few days, before heading back to mortgages and "grown up stuff" - Now, our son has been to Disney about 25-30 times in his short 15 months, and we do things much differently then we used to. I am always so surprised by how some people who frequent Disney still do not know some very important tips:
* All Disney Parks will provide you with ice water, FREE. - But if you want a bigger glass, you can also just ask for a cup of ice. These are the regular soda glasses, Lids and straws, filled as high as you want with ice... You can hit the water fountain.... or.....
*You can bring in your own drinks! - In the summer, We bring at least 5 bottles of water! We pour them in to the free ice, and BOOM, saved $15.00+ on water that day. We also usually bring one coke and one red bull for each of us to have a sugar drink. The couple times we have forgot to do this, It killed me to spend about 3.00 bucks on a drink.
*You can bring in your own snack for the little ones and yourself. We are always armed with goldfish, oreos, bananas, apples, chips etc. Whatever it is we might want, its with us- I usually bring a pb&j for our son and we usually split a Turkey leg.... so we eat all day in the park, family of three, for under 12 bucks.. Pretty much unheard of.
Now dont get me wrong, we are not cheap when it comes to vacation. So many people say "but its such a hassle...." No, i feel its common sense. I always buy water for around 1.99 at home for a case of 24. So for less then ONE bottle at Disney, we have water ALL WEEKEND ! Think of it as saving 15 bucks a day on water , that could be spent somewhere else, on something FUN, think of the ICE CREAM you could instead buy in the park!
Ill post some more Disney Tips as time goes, But I recently had this conversation with someone b/c they are headed there this weekend, and I thought it was important to share.
